the materials that can be used to realize contact lenses, also the demands for the optical quality are high.
Together with eye doctors at the Academic Hospital of Utrecht a lens for babies has been developed, based on a silicon-PMMA modification.
The properties of this material resemble that of silicone, but it does not exhibit the behaviour to ‘stick’ at the cornea. Through this property this lens is very suitable for young children.
